Fastco Incorporated opened its doors April 1st, 1963 in Tacoma, Washington by founders Don Joyner and Ed Nabbefeld. Both men were previously employed by Star Iron & Steel, a large steel fabricator and crane manufacturer in the Northwest. Don and Ed recognized the need for a Tacoma based fastener distributor who really understood the steel business and knew what a fabricator went through to get the right bolts, marked the right way delivered at the right time. Because the steel fabricator generally also supplied the anchor bolts on a project, Don and Ed bought a surplus threading machine and began manufacturing the anchors bolts needed to complete the package and add additional value to the relationship.
This concept of stocking a fastener warehouse around the needs of the customers, manufacturing anchors and other miscellaneous construction products and providing a level of service that made doing business with Fastco fast and easy soon caught on. It was not long before many other Port of Tacoma area businesses realized that Fastco was the right place to get all the fasteners they need to get the job done. Today, Fastco continues to supply many companies in the Tacoma area, as well as other parts of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii.
Industries supplied by Fastco Include steel fabricators, general contractors, mechanical contractors, machinery manufacturers, shipbuilders, ship repair, yacht builders, lumber mills, paper mills, oil refineries, chemical producers, waterworks and just about any company that manufactures a product or does maintenance or repair.
Over the years Don and Ed surrounded themselves with some very high quality individuals to help with their growth, most of which are still working today.
