Industrial Hex Bolts

Bolts are fastening products ideal for applications that require heavy-duty strength. Bolts have external threading and are used in combination with nuts to fasten two or more components for superior holding power compared to other fasteners.

At Fastco, we distribute bolts of all sizes, specifications, and finishes, providing you with the exact bolts you need. We carry tension control bolts, hex bolts, and other standard products, along with unique and hard-to-find bolts. Our team in Tacoma, WA, works with customers across all markets and is available to help you find the right bolt for your application.

Overview of Hex Bolts Carried by Fastco

Find the bolts you need for any application at Fastco! We carry premium bolts in a wide range of sizes, materials, grades, and finishes, including:

Hex Head Bolts

Hex head bolts are named for the hexagonal shape on the head of the bolt. This shape provides efficient turning, allowing for easy grip with a socket or wrench and good drive power for the bolt. Also known as machine bolts, hex tap bolts, and hex serrated flange bolts, hex bolts are available in a wide range of sizes, materials, threading options, and finishes. Hex head bolts are extremely versatile fasteners often used in numerous industrial and automotive applications.

A325 & A490 Structural Bolts

Structural bolts are heavy bolts manufactured for use in construction applications. Structural bolts are ideal for buildings, bridges, and other steel-to-steel structures. Able to bear incredibly heavy loads, structural bolts are available in various finishes, providing additional strength and corrosion resistance.

Carriage Bolts

Carriage bolts are characterized by their rounded heads and square shoulder. When joined with a matching nut, the squared shoulder resists turning, providing a self-locking mechanism. Also known as coach bolts, carriage bolts are ideal for wood-to-wood and wood-to-metal applications.

Lag Bolts

Lag bolts, also called lag screws, are ideal fasteners for wood construction applications. The deep threading and toughness of lag bolts create a tight fit in wood-to-wood structures, wood-to-metal, or when affixing wood to materials like cement or masonry.

Tension Control Bolts

Tension control bolts are pre-assembled, heavy-duty bolts primarily used in steel frame construction applications. With a domed head, this type of bolt is not designed to be driven. Instead, it is installed from a spline on the opposite end of the bolt. Also known as twist-off bolts, LeJeune bolts, and TC bolts, tension control bolts are installed with a special wrench. Once the proper tension has been applied to the bolt, the spline breaks off, leaving just the bolt, washer, and nut in place.

Finish & Grade Options for Our Bolt Fasteners

The bolts Fastco distributes come with various finish and grade options. Each coating and material offers unique advantages, including corrosion resistance and enhanced strength.

Finishes & Coatings

Galvanized: Hot-dipped galvanized bolts carry exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. The galvanizing process allows for the thickest possible coating of zinc to be applied to the fastener, resulting in added protection and durability.

Plain: Plain bolts have no special coatings or plating other than an oil finish to increase lubricity. The fastener material determines the level of corrosion resistance and strength. Plain bolts should be used indoors or in environments where corrosion protection is unnecessary.

Zinc: Zinc plating provides good corrosion resistance, enhanced strength, and added lubricity for bolts. The zinc plating will corrode before the base metal, serving as a sacrificial layer of corrosion resistance for the fastener.

18-8 Stainless Steel: Also known as 304 stainless steel, 18-8 stainless steel bolts have high strength and good corrosion resistance. Comprised of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, 18-8 stainless steel bolts are versatile and utilized in numerous applications.

316 Stainless Steel: 316 stainless steel is characterized by its 2-3% molybdenum content. The molybdenum provides 316 stainless steel bolts with resistance to corrosion and pitting, helping retain strength at elevated temperatures.

Grades

  • Grade 2 bolts: Good strength (57,000 psi), usually manufactured from low or medium carbon steel
  • Grade 5 bolts: Increased strength (74,000 psi), made from medium carbon steel
  • Grade 8 bolts: Extremely strong (130,000 psi), made from medium carbon alloy steel
